Premiere at Urania Spiegelpalast Köln
On Friday, 18 September 2026, “The Juggler of Notre-Dame” celebrated its premiere. Many friends and long-time companions of the Urania Spiegelpalast had come together to celebrate this special evening.
Even before the performance, the square in front of the Spiegelpalast came alive. People greeted one another, raised a glass together, and admired the new home of Urania right by Cologne Zoo. Inside, it was warm, festive, and at the same time wonderfully cozy. The perfect setting for an evening in which culture does not happen at a distance, but right up close to the audience.
“The Juggler of Notre-Dame” takes the audience to Paris in the 1930s. Juggling, dance, music, and choral singing tell of love, loss, hope, loneliness, and courage. Much happens without words. A glance, a movement, or a change of light is sometimes enough, and suddenly the Spiegelpalast falls completely silent.
Between these quiet moments, there is laughter, wonder, and of course food. French cuisine is part of the story of the evening and makes the visit far more than a classic theater performance. Everything fits together: the music, the acrobatics, the lighting, the special venue, and the food.
Behind Urania Spiegelpalast Köln stand Bettina Montazem, Lea Johanna Montazem, and Rosa Halina Dahm. Together, they have given Urania a new home at Cologne Zoo. The premiere showed that this house has arrived exactly where it belongs.
In the end, one feeling remained above all: this was a truly good evening. With goosebump moments, good food, beautiful entertainment, and an atmosphere in which one would have gladly stayed a little longer.
